Installation & setup

GridMe ships as an Adobe CEP extension. Your download includes simple scripts—you can skip digging through hidden system folders unless you prefer a manual workflow.

1. Download the package

Use the download page and grab the build for your system. Everything you need is inside the bundle.

2. Run the installer

GridMe uses Adobe's Common Extensibility Platform (CEP). The included scripts place files where Illustrator expects them:

Windows

  1. Extract the ZIP you downloaded.
  2. Run install-gridme.bat. If Windows blocks it, right-click and choose Run as administrator.
  3. Watch for the success prompt, then continue below.

macOS

  1. 1Extract the ZIP.
  2. 2Run install-gridme.command. On first launch, right‑click → Open → Open to satisfy Gatekeeper.
  3. 3If blocked: System Settings → Privacy & Security → open anyway for the installer.
  4. 4Still stuck? From Terminal in that folder run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine ., then open the script again.

3. Restart Illustrator

If Illustrator is open, quit fully and reopen so the extension can register cleanly.

4. Open the panel & activate

From the menu bar:

Window → Extensions → GridMe

The first launch asks for your key—from checkout, invite, or beta instructions. Follow your company policy if seats are shared between machines.

Uninstalling

Run the paired uninstall script bundled with your download if you remove GridMe, then restart Illustrator.
